Jamaica’s Curry Festival offers a fascinating escape that will heat up the holidays with deliciously spiced cuisine to the beat of hot reggae rhythms. The event will be held at Turtle River Park in the resort area of Ocho Rios on Sunday, December 19, starting at 10:00 a.m.

“The Jamaica Tourist Board is happy to be a part of this festival, which showcases the cultural diversity of our destination,” said John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “This is a prime example of culinary events here that truly reflect our heritage, offering visitors an authentic taste of Jamaican cuisine and influences that have shaped its richness.”

Jamaica’s Curry Festival will showcase the creativity of local chefs who will craft a variety of curry dishes, including curried mango, curried cake, curried ice cream, curried fish, curried conch, curried crab, and many more offerings. Attendees can also learn about the history and origin of curry, and multiple ways curry can be used for medicinal purposes.

As visitors participate in the culinary festivities, they will be entertained by Grammy-award-winning reggae artist Beenie Man and a great line-up of other popular reggae artists. Guests can enjoy cultural activities such as fire and limbo dancers, as well as comedians. A kid’s pavilion will feature a waterslide, merry-go-round, bounce-a-bout, mechanical bull, ferris wheel, rock climbing, and more. JetBlue Airways, one of the official sponsors, will be on hand to give away three round-trip tickets to patrons. Travelers interested in the festival can take advantage of special internet-only rates at Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort in Ocho Rios, available through December 22, 2010 on: www.sunsetresortsjamaica.com
