JAMPACT in Partnership with Caribbean International Network (CIN) to Host 2nd Annual Charity Fashion Show
On February 26th, 2010, Jamaica Impact, Inc. (JAMPACT) will host its 2nd annual Roots Rockin’ Royal Fashion Show at Promenade. Roots Rockin’ Royal II fuses fashion with rich, vibrant heritage of the Caribbean through music, art, fashion and use of the “royal colors”-red, gold and green.
This year’s highly esteemed event will showcase the talent of popular Caribbean and New York designers such as: I LOVE JA, Born as a Raggamuffin, Clutch Kreyol, Riddim Driven, OSUN Designs, Eye Collection, and many more. Special runway appearance will be made by one of leading faces for the Ralph Lauren Polo Winter Olympics Campaign, male supermodel and elected Event Ambassador, Oraine Barrett. Says Barrett, “I always have a sense of obligation to help people who are in need in any capacity.” In addition to its runway showcase, this major fund raising event for JAMPACT will feature an amazing fashion installation displaying one-of-a-kind creations by emerging and leading fashion designers followed by the silent auction of select pieces. The event hopes to raise public awareness of JAMPACT and their mission to make positive contributions towards the improvement of social and economic conditions in Jamaica.
Advance tickets are $25 and $30 at the door (donations accepted). Proceeds from the fashion show, raffle and silent auction will benefit JAMPACT’S Adopt-a-School Program, which provides financial and in-kind support to four (4) early childhood institutions – Cole’s, Crescent Road, Maxfield Park, and St. Steven’s Basic Schools – located in some of Kingston, Jamaica’s challenged inner-city communities. Proceeds will also benefit the Haiti Relief efforts.
