JCDC Appoints Executive Director

Dr. Dennis Howard, Chairman, JCDC Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Delroy Gordon to the post of Executive Director, Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) effective October 1, 2013.  Mr. Gordon joined the JCDC as the Cultural Organizer for the parish of St. Mary in 1987. Within two years of his employment, he commenced his upward movement in the Commission when he was promoted to Parish Manager and later Regional Manager and Director of Field Services.

For 26 years, Mr. Gordon has contributed greatly and given high-quality, dedicated and committed service to the continued growth and development of the Commission. Under his leadership in 2009, the Commission received the Prestigious Gleaner Honour Award for Excellence in Arts & Culture. He was recognized at King’s House as one of the eight nominees for the Jamaica Institute of Management, Manager of the Year Award for 2011.

Mr. Gordon holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management
(1st Class Honours) a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Senior Management Development (PSSMD).  He is a Justice of the Peace for the parish of St. Mary and serves on numerous parish and national committees and boards.
 
The JCDC, an agency of the Ministry of Youth & Culture celebrates 50 years this year and continues to unearth, develop, showcase and promote Jamaica’s rich culture heritage and the talent of the Jamaican people.
