JCDC celebrates World Theatre Day with Basil Dawkins, March 27, 2014, Kingston

The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth & Culture will celebrate World Theatre Day on Thursday, March 27, 2014 with an interactive session dubbed “JCDC Live” with renowned playwright, Basil Dawkins. The session will be held at the Olson Hall, Ardenne High School, 10 Ardenne Road, Kingston 10 starting at 10 a.m.

JCDC Live will give members of the public the unique opportunity of engaging Mr. Dawkins who will share his experiences and advice to aspiring actors, playwrights and persons who aspire to enter theatre. As one of Jamaica’s most successful playwright/producers, Basil Dawkins has over 30 years experience in theatre as a producer, playwright and actor. Some of his most successful plays which have gained national and international recognition include : Champagne & Sky Juice, Same Song Different Tune, Toy Boy, Feminine Justice, What The Hell Is Happening To Us, Dear?, A Gift For Mom, and Which Way Is Out?

World Theatre Day was established in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI) and is celebrated annually on the 27th March by ITI Centres and the international theatre community.
