JCDC Chronicles Musical Journey With Festival Song Showcase, August 2nd, 2013, Kingston

Guided by its vision, “the global centre of cultural excellence” this year, the JCDC will take the nation on a musical parade of the 47 festival songs that captures Jamaica’s Independence journey. The Jamaica Festival Song Showcase will be held at the Independence Village, Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Friday, August 2, 2013 starting at 8:00 p.m.

As Jamaica brings an end to the 50th anniversary of Independence, the final commemorative event will take the form of a musical showcase chronicling the 50 years journey of independence through on of Jamaica most beloved musical product- the Jamaica Festival Song, and as such rekindle the “Great Independence Sprit”.

Patron will be taken on a nostalgic voyage from performances by past Festival Song winners such as Chetengae, Heather Grant, The Astronaut, Roy Ryan and Abbey Dallas. There will also be specials guest performances by Mighty Diamond, Ken Boothe, Nomadz’ Pam Hall, Errol Dunkley, Derrick Morgan among others.  Admission is $500 for adults at children $200 and patrons can purchase tickets at Portmore Mall Pharmacy, Music Mart, Music Depo (Clock Tower), Best Expressions, JCDC offices and at the gate.

The Festival Song Competition is the only one of its kind Jamaica that provides participants with the opportunity to write and perform an original song that is promoted nationally. The Competition over the years has become a showground for aspiring artistes, songwriters and producers to showcase their talents.  The sponsors include MegaMart, Luck Dollar, CVM, KSAC, Bess FM, SunCity Radio, IRIE FM and Hot 102 FM.
