Friends,
Today is moving day for the families we are helping with food, clothing, accommodations and tender loving care. Several of us have ‘adopted’ rooms or individuals or more than one, where we are attending to specific needs. Our ‘family’ members from New Orleans have registered with the American Red Cross and FEMA, but none have received any monetary help from these sources (yet?)!
We are appealing to those who cannot personally volunteer their time and effort, to send checks to:
Jamaica Foundation of Houston
P O Box 710824
Houston TX 77271-0824
Since we are a 501-C3 non-profit, donations are tax deductible for this purpose. Please make the checks payable to the Jamaica Foundation, and add on the memo line: Katrina Relief.
The drop-off location for food, clothing and personal care items is:
Caribbean Cuisine
7433 Bissonnet St.
Houston TX 77074
The Honorary Jamaican Consul of Houston, Mrs. Beverly Ford has also made an appeal for funds to support the Jamaican families we are caring for. The address of the consulate is 7737 Southwest Freeway, Suite 580, Houston TX 77074. The appeal letter from the Consul’s office was sent to many people in other cities, as well as Houston.
Let us all help in any way we can to bring stability to the lives of these families.
Thanks, and blessings,
Andy
