Location: United States Embassy, Kingston
Description: Oversight of the operational and technical aspects of APHIS PPQ Preclearance programs in Jamaica; Coordinates and manages the cooperative preclearance programs involving preclearance inspection and certification, treatment, pest survey and management related to the list of approved commodities.
Qualifications: A university degree in one of the Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Zoology, Entomology, or Plant Pathology is required; Five years of progressively responsible experience involving planning, organizing and executing operational and technical plant protection and preclearance program activities is required; A thorough professional knowledge of plant health safeguarding principles and application to preclearance inspection and treatment activities is required; Must be able to develop and maintain an extensive range of contacts with host government officials, private industry members, universities and research institutions; Must be computer literate; Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft suite, such as Word, Excel, Outlook; Must possess a valid Jamaican driver’s license; Must have good interpersonal skills, judgment and ability to work independently.
