Job Title: Assistant Manager – Billings and Collections Bursary
LOCATION: University of the West Indies, Mona
DESCRIPTION: Analyze data, interpret and evaluate results; Ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations and systems of internal control; Create financial reports and/or presentations; Assess and evaluate strategies to improve performance; implement innovative and cost effective solutions that lead to effective change management and business process improvement; Provide high quality audits by evaluating information systems and internal controls, gathering evidence and performing procedures to meet the objectives of audit and assurance standards; Continuously identify ways of developing self and others to improve processes and performance; Coordinate all activities relates to month end reporting and yearend audit; accuracy and timelines being of highest priority; Prepare and/or review audit schedules (monthly and annually) for students, non-students and third party donor accounts; Liaise with Senior Management and implement policies related to improved reporting and collections; Manage the non-students related other receivables and its entire business cycle; Plan, monitor, organize and control operations of the Unit with a view to billing accurately and collecting on a timely basis; Prepare and monitor Operational Plan for the joint unit each year; Assess, direct and maintain development of relevant Web presence of the Unit; Boss and Bursary Website; Implement policies to increase cash-flow and reduce receivables; Ensure all billings related automated systems are functioning optimally; Design, create and build systems that facilitate efficiency and accountability
QUALIFICATIONS: A postgraduate degree in Accounting and considerable experience in a similar managerial capacity; A professional accounting qualification as well as advanced training in/or knowledge of Microsoft Excel will have a distinct advantage; Proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting; Demonstrate clear, critical thinking to undertake work and solve business problems or weaknesses to improve performance; Excellent interpersonal, client service and supervisory skills, including an ability to gain the support of staff while setting and demanding high standards; Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
