Description: Leading power delivery systems design (Substation, Transmission and Distribution) to ensure the achievement of strategic business objectives for reliability and protection, safety, efficiency and loss reduction; Ensures that the business is equipped with an accurate GIS database; Provides technical guidance and leadership to a team that is charged with improving the power delivery systems; Ensures the development of standards for Transmission and Distribution maintenance and develops systems for monitoring the adherence to these standards; Develops the strategy and systems for reliability improvement in Transmission and Distribution; Supports and develops the regional operations teams by providing learning opportunities for the use of engineering solutions for T & D maintenance and reliability improvement; Designs, constructs and commissions major changes to Transmission lines, Substations and distribution line extensions. This includes the procurement of material, bid administration and contractor management; Leads the team to conduct load flow studies to determine and recommend the optimum solution for the power delivery system to facilitate load growth; Conducts analytical studies on the Transmission and Distribution Systems and recommends solutions to counteract losses; Plans capacity expansion at substations and reviews and approves all substation designs, feasibility studies and environmental assessments; Approves and reviews specifications for power delivery system expansion and modification and supports construction and commissioning activities and subsequent handover to the business; Conducts system protection studies to ensure the integrity of the power system (generation, transmission and distribution)
Qualifications: Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline; Training in Engineering Management an asset; Leadership/Management Training; Professional Engineer Certification (P.E.); Project Management Certification; 10+ years progressive experience in electrical engineering and corporate management, at least five of which should be at a senior level; Expert knowledge of power generation, transmission and distribution systems; Proven expertise in systems design; Demonstrated results orientation; Strategic and analytic thinking; Sound decision making and problem solving skills; Creativity and innovation; Strong leadership and motivational skills; Excellent customer focus; Proven change management ability; Ability to drive culture enhancement; Excellent communication skills; Work outside of normal working hours; Travel extensively island-wide
