JOB TITLE: Locomotive Operator
LOCATION: Jamalco, Clarendon and Kingston
DESCRIPTION: Acting as work leader for the train crew; Ensuring that all standard operating procedures and safety rules are adhered to by the crew; Developing and training the Brakesman and effectively managing assigned brakesman activities on the locomotive; Carrying out pre-equipment checks using the appropriate checklist; Operating the locomotive to move, switch and position railcars including gondolas hoppers and tank cars and to move commodity between St. Jago, CAW, RPT and Logan’s Junction; Interpreting and following signals from level crossing operators, brakesmen and other signalmen; Assisting maintenance personnel in trouble shooting and solving equipment problems; and Coordinating operations activities between Raw Materials, St. Jago and Rocky Point.
QUALIFICATIONS: Have secondary level education with extensive equipment operation experience; Pass the test administered for locomotive operators and pass the annual audit administered by Jamalco through an external agent; Have basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems along with basic electrical theory; and Know public laws and regulations governing operations of railroad equipment and mobile equipment. All short-listed candidates will undergo profile testing.
