JOB TITLE: Manager
LOCATION: Forestry Department. Kingston
DESCRIPTION: Responsible for developing and monitoring long and short term Forest Management Plans, in keeping with the Forestry Department’s policy and strategic objectives; Leading in the development of all Forest Management Plans consistent with the Agency’s objectives; Ensuring that Forest Management Plans (FMP) are in place for the management of each cluster of Forest Estates; Organizing and conducting public consultations to capture inputs from all major stakeholders; Presenting audit/verification findings to key internal stakeholders and soliciting their responses; Collaborating with Government & Non-government agencies, Private and Community based organizations as is required/necessary; Preparing briefs, papers and reports for the Agency; Reviewing and approving technical audit plans; Ensuring that technical audits/verifications are conducted for all forestry related activities in a timely and efficient manner; Developing Work Plans for the Branch ensuring that they are fully aligned with the objectives of the Agency; Submitting monthly, quarterly and annual analytical reports to the Senior Director, Forest Science and Technology Services, delineating work in progress and/or completed; Incorporating adequate technical data/ information in all forest management plans (FMPs); Leading the monitoring of FMPs and proposing changes and improved monitoring and evaluation initiatives; Leading the internal management review process for all FMPs; Reviewing all verification or audit reports in a timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS: First Degree in Environmental Planning /Forest or Natural Resource Management / Agriculture or any other related area; Knowledge of project management; planning and research techniques; Training in relevant software applications; Three (3) years experience; Excellent technical writing, analytical thinking, and project management; Excellent planning, organizing, analyzing and research skills; Excellent oral and written communication skills; High level of initiative and integrity; Excellent customer and quality focus
