JOB TITLE: Research Consultant
LOCATION: Jamaicans for Justice, Kingston
DESCRIPTION: Conduct a baseline knowledge assessment of basic human rights and civic principles in select communities, and produce a report with findings; Carrying out qualitative and quantitative research; Designing data collection instruments/setting up research field visits; Capturing the primary socioeconomic issues facing targeted communities; Documenting the level of development experienced in targeted communities; Capturing participants’ level of awareness of human rights and government services; their ability to access those services and utilize resources; Capturing the strength of community governance structures and the readiness and capacity of community/civic groups to participate in local governance; Analyzing, synthesizing and producing findings
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Marketing, Market Research, Research Methods, Sociology or other degree related to the position preferred. (A Bachelor’s degree with a combination of relevant experience and competencies will also be considered); Knowledge of the theories, principles and concepts in research design and implementation; Experienced in implementing a wide variety of research methodologies and techniques; Proven track record of collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data; Prior experience working with data analysis software; Ability to present information and findings in a cogent fashion; Strong interest in social policy and policy research; Knowledge of human rights and civics would be an asset; Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills; Self-motivated and ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative; Owner of a reliable motor vehicle
