JOB TITLE: Secretary General

LOCATION:  Jamaica Teachers’ Association, Kingston

DESCRIPTION: Co-ordinates all aspects of the work of the Association; Manages the finances of the Association; Chief Advisor to the President, Central Executive and General Council; Represents the Association at national, regional and international levels; Prepares and presents reports to Annual Conference, General Council and Central Executive; Deals with legal matters pertaining to the work of the Association; Develops and maintains strong bilateral relationships with regional and international teachers’ organizations; Supervises the Administrative Staff

QUALIFICATIONS: Trained Graduate and with a minimum of a Masters Degree; Must be fully knowledgeable of the Jamaican education system; Must have administrative experience in the education system; Must have comprehensive knowledge of the Education Act, the Education Regulations and the Jamaican Labor Laws; Must have a comprehensive understanding of the structure, functions and operations of the Association; Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiations skills; Shows proven ability to maintain high levels of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of job performance; Must have strong leadership and management skills; Must have working knowledge of accounts and financial management
