Corporate Communications Manager at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), Reginald Allen, has advised that full bus service will resume in the corporate area and Spanish Town tomorrow (May 31).
“Come tomorrow morning, we will be 100 per cent operational; uptown, downtown, Spanish Town, everywhere,” Mr. Allen told JIS News during an interview today (May 30).
Since Thursday (May 27), the JUTC has been gradually resuming operations downtown after withdrawing its services during the recent unrest in sections of West Kingston.
“There was just one little bit of roadway that we were not traversing heading into this weekend – Spanish Town Road, between Three Miles and downtown, meaning Spanish Town Road past Maxfield Avenue, past Collie Smith Drive , past May Pen Cemetery, Past Denham Town Police Station, (and) past Tivoli Gardens,” Mr. Allen informed.
A State of Emergency, limited to Kingston and St. Andrew was declared by the Government of Jamaica on Sunday, May 23, prior to a joint military/police operation in sections of West Kingston. The operation is ongoing.
