K’Coneil gets summer cooking early with a hot new single and accompanying video for “Bodi” (Keynote Records / Gedion Soldiers Entertainment). Media giant BET premiered the visuals on the network’s highly trafficked website. “There’s no question that K’Coneil is all about the feel-good vibes,” offered BET’s Diamond Alexis. She went on to add that K’Coneil is “vibrating even higher on that energy for 2019 for his latest release, ‘Bodi.'”
The NYC-based Jamaican singer delivers an ode to the female form and all of his plans for it on this bedroom-ready tropical jam, which is already getting radio airplay on NYC’s Power 105.1, Hartford’s HOT 93.7, Miami’s 99 JAMZ, and several other big stations. “Bodi” playfully blends elements of r&b and dancehall, remaining on brand with K’Coneil’s approach to his craft, which he describes as “genre fluid, or the ability to float in and out of different genres, in an attempt to create a palette of sonic perfection.”
The steamy video for “Bodi” features an outnumbered K’Coneil as the guest of honor at a mansion party where beautiful women are at every turn, from the pool, to the wine cellar, to the music room, to the bedroom. Shape and skin are celebrated as works of art in this dream-come-true visual smorgasbord, directed by Jose Javy Ferrer (credits include Wyclef Jean, Nicky Jam, Faruko, Daddy Yankee, and many more).
K’Coneil shared the concept behind his vision with BET. “‘Bodi’ – the total ’embodiment’ of a woman embraces the virtues of femininity,” he said. “The ‘Bodi’ video highlights the physical, spiritual, and mental attributes that make women such a wonderful work of art. I’m super excited, humbled, and grateful to have BET on board for the premiere and for helping me spread this message through my visuals.”
Born into a musical family on the beautiful island of Jamaica, the arts were embedded into K’Coneil’s DNA, while education played a vital role in the young artist’s life. After migrating to the United States on a full soccer scholarship where he attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, K’Coneil couldn’t deny his musical calling. While in college, K’Coneil joined up with a vocal group that saw him perform at Madison Square Garden, and he never looked back.
Honing his musical craft by writing and voicing for notable producers, K’Coneil’s early singles, “Gyal A You” and “Me One,” earned him attention on international radio airwaves, while allowing him to grace stages alongside some of the biggest names in music. After releasing his debut EP Love/Lust in 2016, K’Coneil received a JUNO award nomination and an International Reggae World Music Awards nomination for his collaboration “Love How You Whine” with Canadian singer/actress Kreesha Turner. He followed that up with with a string of single and video releases, including the 2018 hit song “Balance,” a collaboration with afrobeat star Stonebwoy, that quickly shot past 1.1 million views on YouTube.
