Jamaican-American Leo Gilling, Miramar Commissioner Candidate, Votes for Miramar Wall of Honor Honorees

HONOREES SELECTED BY MIRAMAR COMMISSIONER CANDIDATE, FORMER PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEMBER

MIRAMAR, FL — Leo Gilling, Candidate for the City of Miramar Commission Seat 4 and former Member of the Miramar Parks and Recreation Board, voted for the Miramar Wall of Honor Honorees. Mr. Roland Abel, Ms. Ina McNeil, and Ms. Anna Mikolitc, were recognized for their contributions to the community at the Wall of Honor Ceremony held in Miramar’s Beauty and Progress Park on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

The Ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. with welcome remarks by Tennille Decoste, Assistant Director for the City of Miramar and Member of Broward County’s Human Rights Board. Decoste’s presentation was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Introduction of Dignitaries by Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam. The honorees then received awards and their names were unveiled on the wall. The Ceremony concluded with Closing Remarks at 11:00 a.m.

“It’s nice to see members of the community being recognized for their hard work,” Gilling said at the Ceremony. “These three Honorees are known to be strong communities’ advocates, members of their churches and always available to lend a helping hand.”

Leo Gilling is a Small Business Owner, Media Personality, Educational Advocate and Writer. He has decades of dedicated community service and over 20 years of business experience in Accounting, Cost Analysis, Insurance, and Hospitality. Gilling has served on Miramar’s Parks and Recreation Board, Miramar’s Sister City Exploratory Committee, the Partners for Youth Foundation Board, the Caribbean Maritime University Foundation Board, Broward Alliance for Caribbean Educators, and a member of the local Kiwanis club. Gilling is the proud father of four, and a mentor to many.

The City of Miramar is situated in southwestern Broward County, Florida and is the 3rd largest city in the County. Florida has a high population of Caribbean Immigrants.
