Leon & The Peoples Live At World Cafe In Delaware For Father’s Day

On Sunday, June 17, 2012, Father’s Day, Wilmington, Delaware will be getting in person the multi-talented Actor/Singer LEON who will be performing live with his band, LEON & THE PEOPLES at World CafĂ© Live at the Queen. The show, with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Light Up the Queen Foundation, will begin at 7:30 pm with an opening performance by Spokey Speaky. This performance comes after LEON’s award, Fabulous Father, a recognition which he received by President Obama’s White House Fatherhood Initiative for Outstanding Fathers, Role Models, Community Leaders and Icons.   

 

The International Reggae and World Music Award nominated band with perform songs from their debut album, “The Road Less Traveled.” No stranger to the musical stage LEON AND THE PEOPLES have completed a 36 city US tour titled For the Love of It. Additionally, they have shared the stage with reggae greats Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Third World Band and headlined at the 25th Annual Aids Walk NYC Concert in Central Park, NYC Summer Stage, New Orleans International Music & Arts Festival and Atlanta’s 2010 National Black Arts Festival, among others. Also to their credit, the band has been featured on BET’s 106 & Park and was a part of the 2011 All-star line-up at the Aspen Jazz Fest that included performances by Sheryl Crow, Steely Dan and Michael Franti and Spearhead.

 

Fans first fell in love with LEON when he appeared in Madonna’s video “Like a Prayer.” However it has been his onscreen performances in blockbuster hits such as “Cool Runnings,” “Above the Rim,” “Cliffhanger,” “Waiting to Exhale,” HBO’s “OZ,” NBC’s “Crossing Jordan,” “The Five Heartbeats” (voted the #1 African American film by AOL Black Voices) and NBC hit mini-series “The Temptations,” that has kept fans intrigued throughout the years. In 2012, LEON will star in Troy Byer’s romantic comedy “Ex-Free,” “Soul Ties,” which is based on the book by the same name by author Tee Austin, “The Cheaters Club” and the world premiere play airing on GMC, titled “From this Day Forward.”
