Letter to Hillary

Dear Hillary,

For the past 35 years you have been fighting for a better America, and one of your objectives has been the recognition of black Americans as equal in every way to white Americans. Am I right?

If that is true, I find it puzzling that you would stand in the way of a black American’s candidacy for the Presidency of the United States.

Surely, the emergence of an urbane and educated African-American who appears completely qualified for the Presidency should fill you with pride?

Surely, this is what you have been working for all these years?

Or am I wrong in accepting your commitment to the battle for racial equality?

Have you merely been using the civil rights struggle as a platform for your personal ambition?

Say it ain’t so, Hillary! Say it ain’t so!
