Peace March For March 8, 2009, Kingston

The Violence Prevention Alliance (VPA) invites you to partner in the Peace for Prosperity Campaign which runs from February to April 2009. During this period a number of activities including a Peace March & Rally, an Entertainers? and Media Managers? Forum, and several community-based activities, will be held in Kingston, Clarendon and St James to sensitise citizens about the importance of building a protective environment for our children and youth.

SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN
We are seeking to enlist the support of your organisation as we continue to promote peace building and highlight the effects of crime and violence on our children and youth, national and community development. We also ask that your organisation adopt the Peace for Prosperity theme, and incorporate violence prevention and peace building messages and activities in your organization?s existing community outreach programs and events for 2009.

PEACE MARCH
Additionally, we ask that you join us in a demonstration for peace and violence prevention and reduction on March 8, 2009 on the streets of Kingston, which will culminate in a rally at The National Stadium Car Park.

The VPA welcomes the involvement of your organization in this national campaign, as we work towards making Jamaica the place of choice to live, work, raise families, and do business in an orderly and just society.

Peace March For March 8, 2009, Kingston

Following Peace Day on March 3, there will be a major march for peace in Kingston on Sunday March 8th in which communities, civic groups, churches, business entities and the general public are invited to participate.

The routes for the march are as follows:

  1. Police Officers Club → Trafalgar Road → Lady Musgrave road → Fairway → Stanton Terrace → Herb McKinley Drive → Stadium Car Park
  2. Eastern Peace Centre on 121 Windward Road → ( coming from Bellevue Hospital) → Up Mountain View along Arthur Wint Drive→Stadium Car Park
  3. Cross Roads → Caledonia Road → Tom Redcam → Stadium Car Park

The march will end at the Stadium Car Park and parking will be available at the Police Officer’s Club
