The Caribbean-American For Community Involvement in Florida, Inc. (CAFCI) will stage their 25th Annual Friendship Ball scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 7:00 p.m., at the prestigious Raymond F. Kravits Center in West Palm Beach. The elegant event will be celebrated with a formal dinner, dancing and topped with a performance by Marcia Griffiths, the distinguished “Queen of Reggae”.
Hosting the evening’s activities will be Andrea “Delcita” Wright, one of Jamaica’s top female comedians and actress. Wright is no stranger to South Florida as she has appeared in many stage productions to sold-out audiences. DJ Mansta & Toots will energize guests with a varied selection of music to keep the dance floor occupied after dinner. A silent auction will engage patrons who wish to purchase any of the valuable items which will be on sale.
CAFCI is committed to the support and revitalization of many aspects of the community of Caribbean-Americans in Florida. The annual Friendship Ball is a fundraiser designed to build CAFCI’s Student Assistance Program funding with purpose of promoting the pursuit of education for youth.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Friendship Ball, the members of CAFCI decided to up the ante and added veteran singer Marcia Griffiths to the entertainment package. Griffiths is celebrating her 50th year as a performer and is expected to deliver a sterling show, serenading patrons with her string of hits including the popular “Electric Boogie” which will definitely see the audience doing the “Electric Slide” as she performs the song.
Tickets for the Friendship Ball can be purchased online at www.cafcipbc.org and are tax deductable as the organization is a non-profit 501©3 designated by the IRS. Seating is limited and patrons are urged to get tickets early to reserve their seat. CAFCI was founded by a group of Palm Beach residents in an effort to enhance, maintain and sustain the quality of life for the community, consistent with the culture and tradition of their ancestral origins. Their contributions of service and outreach date back to the late 80’s and has been beneficial to the youth and community as a whole.
