Reggae-Soul Singer/Songwriter, Mario Evon, will release the first single, ‘Soul Tek’, from his debut album ‘Reggae-Soul Volume 1: M.E. On Love’. The song, written and produced by Evon, was recorded in Bob Marley’s legendary Tuff Gong Studio and engineered, mixed and mastered but the notable and well-respected, Rohan Dwyer. The official online release is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, 2013 through all major online music distributors and streaming services worldwide.
Mario Evon, a seasoned performer, has graced the Jamaica Jazz and Blues talent and main stages, Christopher’s Jazz Bar, Redbones Blues Cafe, and made it to the final round of the Amateur Night competition at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, NYC. ‘Soul Tek’ will be the first representation of Reggae-Soul off of the debut album, and speaks to the often inexplicable and overwhelming emotions associated with the very human experience of infatuation. The danceable one-drop groove, with a memorable melody, fuses elements of old-school reggae and contemporary R&B, aptly conveying Evon’s signature Babyface meets Marley sound.
Sheena Gayle of The Gleaner on reviewing Evon’s January 2013 Jazz & Blues performance stated, “The crowd quickly caught on to Soul Tek, the song he used to cap his set and signal his course in the music industry.” At a date to be announced, the music video, shot by in demand videographer, Reynaldo Martin, against the scenic background of rural Westmoreland, will follow the single release.
