MEDICANJA , Jamaica’s first medical marijuana company, was launched yesterday at a press conference at the Eden Gardens in Kingston, Jamaica. The company will conduct clinical research to extract the components of hemp that can cure a different types of illnesses including glaucoma. It is the first Jamaican venture to make an attempt to legally profit from marijuana but some key questions remain unanswered. Will the Jamaican Government support this effort? Where will this company get their supply of marijuana when it is illegal to grow large crops?
