Naomi J. – Yaadinfo Contributor [ Website ]
Hi everyone, my name’s Naomi, otherwise known as Namsta. I hope the week is treating you well so far. Thanks so much for taking the time out to read my first contribution to the YAADINFO blog.
My guess is that I’m probably a complete stranger to a lot of people reading this post so I thought it might be a good idea to introduce myself and the writing projects I’m currently working on. Now, I’ll try my very hardest not to bore you with every detail of my life. Personally I think there’s only so much (in all honesty very little…) fascination to be found in talking about me, me and oh yes, me.
1984. I was born in East London to a British Guyanese mother and Jamaican father. I really think it’s a blessing to be of dual Caribbean heritage but sometimes things can get a bit on the sticky side when I get caught up in the “it’s not called a bake, it’s a fried dumpling” debate! If that’s not bad enough I’m forever trying to work out whether I’m actually a cockney or an Essex bird….the mind boggles!
From a young age, I’ve always loved telling stories, reading and writing. I guess with having somewhat of a weird (*cough* I prefer the term ‘eccentric’) perception when it comes to my active imagination, writing fiction allows my mind’s eye to dabble in the unknown.
Whilst I was studying media at university I was fortunate enough to gain work experience in various sectors of the British urban media industry. To cut a long story short, I realised that there was a potential gap in the market for the type of stories I wanted to tell not only to the UK audience but the international one as well. Three years later with the hard work put in by a team of kind individuals, my pilot fiction series ‘THE URBAN TALES OF MZ. BUMPER QUEEN’ was brought to life. Last May I self-published my debut (10000% free) e-tale, ‘ROSES: A DISTINCTIVE ANECDOTE’. YAADINFO will be featuring extracts from this cheeky story on a weekly basis so make sure you keep it locked for a jovial insight into 21st century British urban culture.
Ok, I would be lying if I said I couldn’t go on forever and a day with reasons as to why I think you should check out ‘THE URBAN TALES OF MZ BUMPER QUEEN’ fiction blog. However all I will say (I promise) is take a peek for yourself in your own time and if you have any feedback please feel free to email me: namstatheauthor [at] hotmail.co.uk
Following on from ROSES, I’m currently working on the sequel ‘MR CHINN: KING OF THE HILL’. This tale takes a closer look at the Jamrock royalty ‘King Chinn’. My next blog contribution will delve a little more into the formation of this cooler than an island breeze character but in the meanwhile, check out the trailer:
The first chapter taken from King Chinn’s tale will be ready for download mid April (1000% free) whilst the story in its entirety will be available by early next year.
Ok, enough of my waffling. I sincerely hope you will join me in familiarising yourself with the fiction series, the stories furthermore, the intriguing characters. More details are to follow but I also hope you’ll play a crucial (highly appreciated) part in helping to construct the way in which King Chinn is depicted within the fiction series.
Until next time, love, peace and plenty of hair grease.
Naomi
