Jamaica’s top show and dance band, the Fabulous 5, popularly known as Fab 5 will headline festivities celebrating Jamaica’s 49th Independence anniversary on Sunday, August 7, at Miramar Regional Park. The event will also feature Kashief Lindo, Ed Robinson, Mikal Rustle, Sharon Forrester, the Tallawah Mento Band and a number of top entertainers and artistic groups engaging patrons in a variety of cultural presentations.
Presented by LIME, the event is a joint venture between NRS, Inc. and Riddims Marketing in association with United Friends of Highgate (UFOH). Jamaica Independence & Cultural Celebration 2011will attract thousands of Jamaicans and supporters of the island’s traditions, who will flock to the Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway, just west of I-75, to feast on tasty Jamaican food and dance to the sounds of reggae, mento and ska.
As in past years, attendees are encouraged to wear the Jamaican national colors of Black, Gold and Green to demonstrate their patriotic pride. A variety of vibrant and creative designs is expected to inspire, impress and amaze as bold statements are made by fashionistas dressed in their “colors”. Advance tickets are on sale at selected Caribbean outlets for $5.00; prices will be $10.00 at the gate day of the event.
