Mr. Earl Lyn Jr., aka “Jr. Nakisaki” has announced the launch of a monthly concert series designed to pay homage to the icons of Caribbean music, while providing families with a cost-effective way to enjoy the holiday season.
Billed, “The Nakisaki Living Legends Concert Series”, the monthly event will salute artists, managers and other industry folks who have worked tirelessly to sustain Caribbean music here in the US and in their respective homelands.
The initial concert, to be held on Thanksgiving Sunday – November 27th , will feature world renowned Calypsonians, The Might Sparrow and Calypso Rose. The event will also feature a special tribute to Arrow, originator of the international hit “Feeling Hot, Hot”, a Calypso song often featured in Disney Movies and made international by Buster Point Dexter.
“Too many of our legends are passing away without proper recognitions of their contributions to Caribbean music and culture”, said Earl Lyn Jr. “We just lost Sugar Minott and Gregory Isaacs right in the middle of plans for benefit concerts to honor their contributions,” he disclosed.
Each ‘Living Legend Concert’ will include dinner, an awards ceremony and performances by the artists being honored. For the initial event slated for Sunday, November 27th, dinner will be served at 5pm, followed by a meet, greet and autograph session with the performing acts. The concert will begin at 9pm sharp. The cost of the event, which includes a full course meal and concert is $35 in advance; for those attending the concert only, the cost is $20.
