The Crowning Affair for the 13th annual Miss Tropical Paradise Swimwear Pageant will be hosted at the posh Travellers Beach Resort in Negril, Jamaica on Saturday, November 10, 2012, pageant founder Marcia Deans said. Performers this year includes Deison George, Mojo Herb, Derrick Panthor and Nelisha.

The annual international event which was launched in 1999, featured twenty-two young women, ages 21-30 who competed for the title of Miss Tropical Paradise Swimwear Pageant. The Pageant has had semi-finals in various Caribbean Islands including Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica. In the United States, semi-finals have been held in New York, Washington D.C., and Florida. This year’s crowning event will feature girls representing New York, Dominica, Guyana and Jamaica.

When asked what else was in store for patrons this year, a beaming Deans said, “I am working on a number of new initiatives to make the event bigger and better than ever.”

Deans also disclosed that part proceeds from the event will be donated to the Negril International Hospital & Wellness Center (NIH) which should be operational by December 2015.

“Mr. Wellington, Chairman of the Negril International Hospital has been a big supporter of the pageant since it was first staged at the Travellers Beach Resort in 2006. The institution, when completed, will serve as a major source of employment for hundreds of professionals and blue collar workers. The facility will feature a clinical area, a full-scale emergency room, several operating rooms, a cardiology lab, and a radiology department. This is a much needed facility since there are no hospitals to serve surrounding communities so I am excited that we can assist this venture” Deans said.
