Mission Trip to Arthur Wint School In Jamaica July 10-17, 2006

There is a mission trip scheduled for Jamaica July 10-17 to address the needs of the Arthur Wint School located in Lucea, Hanover. Air Jamaica has been part of the cooperative effort to help the school, with its offer of attractive airfares to assist in reducing overall trip costs.

Dusty Cooper of Isle Go organization has been spearheading mission trips to the Caribbean, with much focus given to Jamaica in particular for over 25 years. The Isle Go organization will help in assisting to meet the needs of the Arthur Wint School in Jamaica. Dusty Cooper who is a member of Northland… a Church Distributed, has played an active role in helping the Caribbean community.

Sandy Isaacs, owner / CEO of Break Away Moments, and Dusty Cooper, Executive Director of Isle Go organization, have been working together to streamline the effort to build a playground, help renovate the building, furnish the classrooms, gain classroom supplies and materials, bring the bathrooms up to standard to meet new government regulations, and do whatever possible for the students at the Arthur Wint School which services approximately 160 students this current school year. 15-20 missionaries are being sought to take the trip from the US. More volunteers are needed in Jamaica to help with this project where ‘many hands will make for light work’. The primary goal for this trip will be to interact with the children and youth in the host community with a strong focus on building relationships, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, the work project, sightseeing/shopping, and cultural exposure. Individuals, businesses and/or organizations are being encouraged to somehow get involved! Help can be given to also sponsor students where sponsorship with regards to school fees is JA $3,000.00 per year at JA $1,000.00 per term. To sponsor a student with school fees and lunch included is JA $13,000.00

Dusty will be a guest on ‘Break Away Moments…the ultimate radio travel experience show’ hosted by Sandy Isaacs on WOKB 1600 AM in Orlando, speaking to listeners about his organization. Based on the fact that he has been taking numerous mission groups to the Caribbean, Dusty’s organization has significantly impacted the Caribbean Travel & Tourism Industry with guest house stays, utilization of island transportation, the purchase of restaurant meals, Caribbean souvenir purchases and more, while helping to service to the needs of the Caribbean community in doing the Lord’s work. Support from the local and overseas community in this endeavour is being strongly encouraged.

Dusty Cooper will be the Team Leader for this mission trip. He has developed expertise in this area, based on many years of experience in doing so , however, missionaries and volunteers within Jamaica, are also needed to assist in this project. Anyone who can provide any form of assistance to this mission, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks also to Simone Champagnie of SNC Destinations and her local partner Great Vacations in Jamaica, for their help in partnering with Sandy and Dusty to secure lowered rates for the Dunn’s River Falls attraction, that the missionaries from the US will enjoy after having laboured to meet the needs of the school. (It’s also about getting to know the region too!), and also thanks to Christopher Wright, Representative of Jamaica Tourist Board, who has agreed to help secure some Jamaican souvenirs for the missionaries as a thank you token of appreciation, Xavier Murphy of Jamaicans.com and Ian Hamilton of South Florida Caribbean News for the ongoing help via their websites and pertinent informational sharing avenues for getting the word out there about this mission, Ian Gage who will be helping to advise and engineer this project, Lewis Buchanan of Iva Communications and Cyberlearning Caribbean for the IT technology to be instituted at the school, Gary Chung and Harcourt Brace for the abundant donation of reading and literature books for levels K-5, and Theo Chambers of PositveTourism.com and as newly appointed Pres. of the Hanover Chamber of Commerce, for all that he has done to support this mission and who additionally as Past Pres. of the Rotary Club in that area has secured their assistance to helpwith this mission on a local level as well.
