With hits like Video Light and Taxi Fare, International Dancehall Artistes Mr. Vegas and Mr. Lexx are at it again, this time with a camera. The two have teamed up for their latest song, Do it for the Cam, which features both artistes traversing the streets of Kingston, encouraging strangers to Do it for the Cam and the results are hilarious.
The song follows quickly on the Out A Road Medley and is another attempt by the two to put back the fun into dancehall. In the video, people from all walks of life dance and perform varying gimmicks for the cam.
According to Mr. Vegas: “This is just the humorous side of us as we just wanted the fans to have fun with this one. It was interesting to see the response of people when we put them in front of the camera and it shows that there is a smile in everybody”.
The video for Do it for the Cam is currently on Youtube and is getting lots of great responses worldwide. Mr. Lexx, for his part, is happy with the responses to the video and song: “Mr. Vegas and I have always had a good relationship and this is a continuation of that. We wanted to do a song that would get people smiling and bring back some fun and love to the music.
This is not the first time Mr. Vegas has touched on the infectious issue of cell cameras, as his recent hit Selfie is getting good responses from the fans.
Asked whether this was another trend setting move, Mr. Vegas noted that people have been doing it for the cam for a long time: “We are always looking for the new trends and the cam craze has been taking off on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. People are finding new ways of expressing themselves and we are happy to be a part of that”.
