The Story of Jamaican Athletics is the name of exhibition that the National Library of Jamaica will unveil in its halls showcasing the nations finest in its sporting history.

WHAT: Making Tracks: The Story of Jamaican Athletics is an exhibition which traces the past 60 years in Jamaica’s sporting history. The exhibition will highlight the local Boys and Girls Championships, regional games and the Olympics.

BACKGROUND: The exhibition Making Tracks: The Story of Jamaican Athletics will trace the development of track athletes and athletics in Jamaica beginning with Auther Wint’s golden in the 1948 London Olympics to the most recent happenings in Beijing, China. The exhibition will not only focus on the Olympics but other international, regional and local games in which Jamaicans have participated and excelled. Making Tracks: The Story of Jamaica’s Athletics will tell the tale of Jamaican tracks through the use of photographs, medals, trophies and other memorabilia which have been used by the athletes over the years. This exhibition promises to be exceptional and will be up for viewing from September to December 2008.
