“Mixing Business & Pleasure: The YPNJ To Host Major Networking Event In Kingston”, September 25, 2009, Kingston

In Accordance with its 2009/2010 focus on Entrepreneurship as the key to wealth and nation building the Young Professionals Network of Jamaica (YPNJ) in association with Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB) Limited will host a novel and exciting high-speed networking event on Friday 25 September 2009 at the Village Blues Café, located at Orchid Village Plaza, 20 Barbican Road, Kingston 6 from 6:00pm -10:00pm.  Using a variation of the speed dating model, participants will engage each other in discussion, exchanging business information and professional interests for a maximum of 3 minutes. At the end of the period a bell will be sounded and the groups will be switched.

The main aim of this event is to foster effective networking among professionals and entrepreneurs. Attendees should come prepared to meet & greet, and exchange ideas and business cards. There is no cost to attend. Music will be provided by Colin Hines.

Elevator Pitches
The YPNJ is inviting a maximum of 6 current or budding entrepreneurs to do an elevator pitch, which is a 2 minute opportunity to promote yourself and your business in front of 120-150 attendees.

Background
With the aim of engaging young Jamaican professionals to work together for the betterment of Jamaica, the YPNJ was launched in August 2008 with over 200 attendees, the support of Jamaica’s top companies, and under the distinguished patronage of the Prime Minister of Jamaica, The Honorable Bruce Golding. 

The non-profit, non-government and non-political organization now boasts over 2,000 members and associate members between the ages of 18 and 45,  in 8 countries worldwide. The YPNJ is currently working on 4 major initiatives in the areas of entrepreneurship, mentorship, volunteerism and public policy advocacy.

The YPNJ will proudly host Jamaica’s first ever Barter Party – “Let’s Swap Talents” , a productivity inspired event, in November 2009.
