New Date And International Acclaim Reggae Superstars – Beres Hammond And Shaggy Added To Sounds Of Reggae Concert, December 12, 2012

Producer of the upcoming Sounds of Reggae Concert have changed the event date to Wednesday, December 12, 2012.  The new date will be etched in music history at the brand new Barclays Center. The fifteen thousand (15,000) capacity home of the Brooklyn Nets, will host its debut Reggae event The Sounds of Reggae Concert. This concert will be particularly meaningful as Jamaica, West Indies celebrates its 50th year of independence.
 
Presented by Jammins Entertainment, a dominant forerunner in marketing and managing of Reggae music; Sounds of Reggae will feature internationally recognized reggae superstars ALI CAMPBELL’s UB40, the crowd pleaser MAXI PRIEST along with the new additions to the line up – storyteller BERES HAMMOND and Mr. Lover man SHAGGY all in one amazing concert. More artist to be added as the concert draws closer. Doors open at 6:00P with show time at 7:30P.
 
Beres Hammond, reggae connoisseurs sign at the mention of his name; he is the consummate storyteller.  There is something for every listener; ladies are made to feel regal with Angel Eyes; men relate to Double Trouble and his entire audience gets a boost from I Feel Good. His appeal is across the board and his fans always clamor for more. Mr. Hammond has performed to sold-out audiences at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, back-to-back concerts at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and several times at the Manhattan Center including his most recent concert on August 11, 2011.
 
With a commanding presence, a distinctive voice that is recognizable throughout the world and titles such as artist, businessman, philanthropist and Grammy Award winner, Shaggy is and has been a forced to be reckoned with.  A son of the brambly streets of Kingston, Jamaica, his discipline-which he credits to his military background-has been the foundation of his success.  In 1993, Shaggy exploded on the music scene with his debut album “Pure Pleasure.”  His remix of the Ska classic Oh Carolina from that album was an instant hit in England and other countries.  Shaggy followed up with his sophomore album “Boombastic” in 1995.  “Boombastic” went certified platinum, won a Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Reggae Album and topped an impressive chart list that included the Top 40 Rhythmic charts, Hot 100, Billboard 200, among others.
 
Originated in Bingham England (1978), UB40 worked hard and achieved considerable international recognition.   Led by lead singer Ali Campbell and band- mate Brian Travers, the group was influenced by their love for the many diverse sounds of reggae; Ska and early Lovers Rock music.  They became a commercial success with several hits making the charts (US & UK Billboard Hot 100) including chart toppers – “Red Red Wine”, “Can’t help Falling in Love” and their version of “I Got You Babe”.  To date UB40 has sold over 70 million records and continue to perform to sold-out concert houses.
 
Maxi Priest is one of only two British reggae acts to have an American Billboard number one song: “Close to You” in 1990. His duet with Grammy Winner Shaggy in 1996, “That Girl”, was also a hit in the United States, peaking at number twenty.  He has also worked alongside reggae legends Sly & Robbie, Beres Hammond and most notably in the reggae community his monster collaboration with another Grammy-Award winner for Reggae, Shabba Ranks on their hit single, “House Call (Body Can’t Lie to Me)”. In 1991 His Reggae Fusion was very successful and his songs not only went to the top of the chart – American Billboard but he also became a Grammy winning recording artist. His success led to performances with the legendary Roberta Flack, singing “Set the Night to Music” sealing his place not only in Reggae but in music history.
 
This is going to be the most featured reggae event to hit the Tri-state market this year.
