Media entrepreneur Winthrope “Throp” Wellington, founder of THROP Media, and conceptualiser of the Throp-X Jamaica Investment Conference has ventured into the real estate domain through a strategic partnership with Valerie Levy and Associates Realtor Noel Phillips. Recognising the significant impact of tourism in Jamaica, particularly Westmoreland, where 39 per cent of tourism revenue is generated, (according to the Ministry of Tourism) the dynamic duo has initiated a transformative turn-key development called ‘Suites of Negril’ in the breathtaking area of Negril Hills.
Inspired by the overwhelming response to the first Throp-X Jamaica Investment Conference last year, there was a need to address the needs of those who have journeyed, for the 2023 instalment. Throp sought to provide solutions to the growing demand for long-term rental properties, especially for families.
Drawing on his extensive experience in the hospitality industry, gained from working at his family’s hotel, Travellers Beach Resort, Throp openly expressed his deep affection for Negril during his address to the audience. He stated, āIām very passionate about Negril and its potential. I think as a community, we have an opportunity to guide the direction that Negril is going and to impart the trajectory of Negril and Jamaica as a whole.ā
Noel Phillips, the experienced realtor in the partnership, remarked, “People are always looking for real estate opportunities, and we believe Negril is the next frontier.”
Known globally for its mesmerizing sunsets and the renowned Seven Mile Beach, as endorsed by Trip Advisor, Negril stands out as one of the most beautiful places on Earth. In response to the desire expressed by many last year to move to Negril, Throp and Realtor Noel Phillips are proud to unveil a five-phase development named āSuites of Negril’.
āSuites of Negril’ is envisioned as a dynamic, modern turn-key development that offers the perfect blend of luxury and sustainability. The development will feature a resort-style pool, green garden areas, rainwater harvesting, and a grey water system.
Targeting the diaspora, remote working expats, and repatriates, the project aims to provide accommodations that mirror the standards of the United States, complete with all the modern amenities that discerning individuals seek. This innovative initiative aligns with the evolving needs of individuals seeking a harmonious balance between work and lifestyle, especially in the post-pandemic era.
For full transparency, Throp will be documenting the experience of building in Jamaica on his YouTube channel. This documentation aims to provide insight into the entire process, from finding the right partners to the actual construction of the āSuites of Negril’ project. Throp’s goal is to inspire and educate young people, showcasing that they too can buy land and develop it in Jamaica.
As Throp envisions, āSuites of Negril’ is not just a place to live; it’s a lifestyle choice, a commitment to sustainable living, and a celebration of the beauty that Negril offers.”
āSuites of Negril’ is poised to redefine the real estate landscape in Negril, offering a unique opportunity for individuals to reside in a thriving community that prioritizes both comfort and environmental consciousness.
