Six outstanding wards of the state were recently honored by the New York based Jamaican charity Children of Jamaica Outreach (COJO) Inc. for academic excellence. Gary Williams, Founder & Chairman of COJO presented the scholarships to the six scholars at an awards luncheon on September 12 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, where Chorvelle Johnson, CEO of Sagicor Bank served as on special guest. Thorpe was the recipient of the Suzette Henriques Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of COJO Founder Gary Williams’ sister. The funds are raised each year from its Annual Benefit Raffle and its scholarship gala held in December.
