New Yorkers To Meet To Coordinate Relief Effort At Jamaican Consulate – August 22, 2007, Manhattan, New York

In direct response to the tremendous outpouring of concern for Jamaicans at home by Jamaicans in the Diaspora, the Consul General of Jamaica in New York, Dr. Basil K. Bryan has called a meeting of the Northeast USA community for Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 6:00 pm.

The meeting will take place at the Jamaican Consulate, 767 Third Avenue, Manhattan, in the Conference Room, Second Floor location.

Dr. Bryan told JIS News New York that the meeting will discuss relief efforts in the wake of damages to the island by Hurricane Dean on Sunday, August 19, 2007.

Dr. Bryan noted that even as the government and all the relevant and related agencies and bodies make a final assessment of the damage, the meeting will attempt to address the most pressing and urgent need at this most critical time of the disaster.

“I look forward to your attendance and participation in order to work in a united effort as a community of purpose,” Dr. Bryan said.
Consul General Bryan said that a special fund – Jamaican Hurricane Dean Relief Fund 2007 – to facilitate checks and money order contributions at this time – is already in place at the Consulate General of Jamaica, Manhattan.
