Staff WriterNew York, NY (Ms. Raine Inc.): Upscale Crowd Entertainment brings a classy spin to the down and ‘dutty’ Caribbean carnival celebrations in New York City this coming Labor Day weekend with Battle of the Bands, at the City’s prestigious Roseland Ballroom. Billed as “New York’s Biggest Soca Show,” the event brings together the Caribbean’s biggest Soca bands in a friendly “sound clash” on Sunday, August 31st.
Roseland, which has seen the likes of Rock icons Madonna, and Paul McCartney, and also served as the venue for Senator Hillary Clinton’s birthday party, will serve as the backdrop for the ultimate showdown between Trinidad’s Bunji Garlin & the Asylum Band, Fayann Lyons, and Shurwayne Winchester; Edwin Yearwood & Krossfyah out of Barbados; St. Lucian native Ricky T, and Antigua’s Red Hot Flames.
“Of all of the Caribbean carnivals on the East Coast, the West Indian-American Day Carnival in Brooklyn is the most popular. People from all over the world will be in New York to celebrate the City’s rich Caribbean heritage,” states Upscale Crowd Entertainment Event Director Chasen Hollancid. “We decided to take the carnival spirit from the streets of Brooklyn to the world-famous Roseland Ballroom in mid-town Manhattan, keeping true to the colorful lively spirit of carnival, while also catering to our usual classy, upscale crowd.
Battle of the Bands will be held at Roseland Ballroom on Sunday, August 31st. Doors open at 7pm, show time is 8pm-12am. Advance Tickets are $40; $65 for VIP.
