Entertainment by FAB FIVE BAND
The 45th Anniversary of Jamaica’s Independence will be celebrated in grand style at the Hilton Hotel and Towers, on August 18, 2007. The Consulate of Jamaica in New York, Air Jamaica, the Jamaica Tourist Board and community supporters will once again team up to present the event of the year: Jamaica’s Independence Anniversary Ball. The Most Hon. Professor Kenneth O. Hall, ON, OJ, Governor General of Jamaica will be welcomed as the guest of honour.
The gala event which is being coordinated by the Jamaica Independence Anniversary Committee (JIAC), is expected to draw a record attendance this year, for an evening of music, dancing, glittering fashions and auction items of the sort that only dreams are made. This year’s entertainment line-up features popular artiste Dwight Pinkney and the famous Fab Five Band. Tickets are priced at $180 per person and availability is limited. JIAC is advising the public that there will be no ticket sales at the venue on the day of the event.
Each year, the proceeds are earmarked to benefit social, not-for-profit programs in Jamaica and the community here in the United States. Last year’s beneficiaries included the Boys’ Town Foundation, Jamaica, and Leaf of Life Fund for Critically Ill Children, New York among others.
