Ras Astor Black and the friends of BobArtsTV are pleased to announce a celebration party in Sam Sharpe Square, Montego Bay, JAMAICA. We join with the world in celebrating the Inauguration of the first black man to lead the country of the USA. Many Jamaicans living in the USA help to make it happened when they voted for Barack Obama. Barack Obama will be sworn in as President of the United States of America on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Our members and friends of the Jamaica Alliance group in Chicago and Atlanta are sponsoring this day of celebration here in Montego Bay.
The activities for the day include the following;
- BobArtsTV Invite students from schools in the surrounding area to read aloud for the audience something they wrote using the theme – “YES WE CAN” Be What We Want To Be.
- The selected participating students can either DJ , read a Poem or Sing what they wrote. Presentations MUST BE POSITIVE and UPLIFTING and Original
- BobArtsTV will present a Certificate of Participation to the top 10 students. The audience at Sam Sharpe Square will vote for the winners. Special presentation to the two (2) best student speakers will receive a special gifts.
- An award of J$1000.00 for school supplies to the winning boy and girl donated by – Ms. Jennifer Nugent – a proud Jamaica daughter living in the Diaspora who is a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of the US Virgin Islands.
- Special invitation extends to two (2) Teachers to share their ideas or thoughts on the theme “What happens when children are encouraged to DREAM BIG… Maximizing their Potential”
