The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is reporting that the oil spill that occurred in the Kingston Harbour yesterday, March 12, has been effectively cleaned up. A visit by the ODPEM team to the site today revealed that operations at the Port had returned to normal.
Investigations revealed that the spill occurred in the early morning hours on Wednesday, during the bunkering process for a ship docked at APM Terminals. The spill no longer represents a threat to the marine environment in the Harbour.
