On May 21st 1981 Bob Marley was buried at Nine Mile, a village on Jamaica’s north coast. The bronze coffin containing his body was carried to the top of the highest hill in the village and placed in a temporary mausoleum painted in the colors of red, green and gold. Alongside Marley’s embalmed corpse was a guitar by his side and a Bible opened at Psalm 23.
