Miami, FL – Much has been speculated about the controversial unification of the South Florida Caribbean Carnivals – Miami Carnival and Broward Carnival – and their contentious coming together in 2009. Now after a year of growing pains the Miami Broward One Carnival Committee is taking a step further to prove that they are truly one by hiring one
voice; Vanessa’s voice. Vanessa James, formerly of WMIB-FM 103.5 The Beat Miami, has been named the official Miami Broward One Carnival Media Ambassador 2010. In this role, she will engage a global audience with one voice, one image, and one consistent unified message. She serves as a sanctioned media correspondent for all media, will host official Carnival events including the Parade of Bands and Stage Show, will appear in marketing materials, and is the official voice over talent for all radio and television advertising.
The carnival committee called upon her recently launched company, Vanessa James Media, after realizing that strategic and innovative actions must be taken in the rebranding process of the bacchanalian celebration, especially as rumors brew about the implications of the Las Vegas Carnival celebration launching this year on the same weekend as the 26th season of the longstanding South Florida Carnival. Committee members, performers, and event promoters are worried about how One Carnival will fair with Las Vegas Carnival poised to be “the most spectacular carnival event in the world” according to organizers, Las Vegas Carnival, Inc (LVC). LVC promised that attendees can expect, the “first ever International Carnival Competition of Bands, whereby 10 countries selected in the first year will compete to win the coveted “Band of the Year” award. The event, “VegasFest”, which includes the masquerader band competition and a live concert of top Billboard artists, a “Carnival Village” and literally the biggest street party in Vegas that will be
televised live to a global audience.”
As organizers begin to fret over the competition, changes are being made to enhance South Florida’s largest Caribbean festival, one of which is the attainment of their first ever Official One Carnival Media Ambassador Vanessa James, and the other is a noteworthy change of venue. This year’s parade and stage show will be held at Sun Life Stadium Home of the Miami Dolphins and the 2009 Super Bowl. There is no doubt that the world will be watching as One Carnival attempts to be survivors at clash of the Carnivalians.
