West Indies Aerial Survey, an innovative provider of aerial photos and 3D models, today announced the release of an online viewer with geo-referenced aerial data of Kingston, Jamaica. This data is of the highest resolution ever captured of the area.
The Kingston data set is part of a unique Caribbean-wide acquisition project involving the use of high resolution digital cameras and a low flying aircraft. Both the resolution and the way in which the data is made available to the user are new to the region. The online product is available to private sector and government agencies. As a useful layer in GIS systems, this high resolution imagery is aiding organizations with urban planning, agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, disaster preparedness, security, etc.
“We are excited about the launch of our Caribbean online viewer. We feel it is natural to take advantage of the latest technology and extend our service level, allowing customers easy access to data through an internet portal. The powerful combination of different data types such as geo-oblique, orthophoto, street view and 3D in an integrated viewer allows users to select the data view that best suits their application,” said Yoeri Slagboom, CEO of West Indies Aerial Survey.
Key features of West Indies Aerial Survey viewer include :

– Flexible subscriber model allows several users simultaneous access 24/7.
– No software required, the viewer runs in any Java enabled Internet browser.
– Can be opened directly in popular CAD and GIS programs.
– High resolution vertical and oblique aerial views.
– 3D city models using real textures.
