Sunday, August 1: an Independence Thanksgiving service
What: Jamaica Independence Thanksgiving Service
Where: Hillside Presbyterian Church 1879 Columbia Drive in Decatur
Time: commencing at 5:00 p.m.
Sermon: Rev. Oliver Daley, pastor of the Ridgemount United Church in Mandeville, Jamaica. The Prime Minister’s message: will be read by Vin Martin, Esquire, Jamaica’s Honorary Consul in Atlanta.
Performance: Jamaica’s songbird Dawn Marie will present a special musical rendition.
A reception will follow after the church service.
Wednesday, August 4, A Medical Forum
What: A Medical Forum
Where: Auburn Avenu e Research Library on African American History Library 101 Auburn Ave Atlanta , GA, 30303
Time: at 6:00 p.m.
Info: The Forum will look at various health issues such as HIV, that are affecting Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. Also what we can do as a Community to alleviate these issues.
Panel: Fray Gordon of the Wellness Center will head The Panel. The panelists will include a number of top health officials from the Caribbean who reside in Atlanta.

Friday, August 6, Independence Day
What: The Annual Cultural Extravaganza and variety concert
Where: Columbia Middle School at 6:00 p.m.
Who: The concert will feature a number of cultural performances with special guests, ee Danja, Shola Lewis, Monty Montgomery and his band, and many others. Mistress of Ceremonies will be former Miss. World, Lisa Hanna, who now resides in Atlanta.
Time: 6:00 pm
Cost: $5.00 Children Under 12 Free. Refreshments will be served.
Saturday, August 7 AJA Independence and Emancipation Ball
What: Atlanta Jamaican Association will present it’s Annual Independence and Emancipation Ball at the Georgia International Convention Center.
Time: 7:00 p.m
Speaker: Ronnie Thwaites host of Independent Talk on Power 106 FM in Jamaica Former MP.
Performance: Fabulous Five Band.
