This week I had a very interesting discussion with some friends about patois. It started out as a discussion about it being a language. As many of you know I am fully think patios is a language. One person in the discussion thought it was not.  They expanded the discussion and mentioned that she has seen many people who never spoke patois growing up speaking it on their Facebook page. She thought it was disingenuous of them.  I never gave this any thought  before but realized what she said is true. I know some people who we Jamaicans would call “speaky spokey” that I would never speak patois in public but I have seen them do in online. Do you know anyone?
