Jamaica Impact, Inc. (JAMPACT) will host its C.H.I.C. (Charitable. Hopeful. Impactful. Classy) Benefit Gala on Saturday, June 29th at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music at 450 W. 37th Street, New York, NY.
As JAMPACT’s flagship fundraiser, this annual event serves as a key effort in its ‘Educate A Child. Build A School. Strengthen A Nation’ campaign, where JAMPACT has been working to raise funds to rebuild the Maxfield Park Children’s Home Basic School.
The school, which serves wards of the state, has been in operation for over fifty (50) years but is in a state of disrepair. Proceeds from this event will be used to help transform the school into a concrete and sustainable educational institution for the children and the community at large. The estimated cost for rebuilding this structure is $100,000.
This year’s Gala will honor philanthropist Paul C. Brunson with the JAMPACT Impact Award. Paul, who will also serve as the event’s Keynote Speaker, co-founded and chairs a foundation that focuses on school rehabilitation in the U.S. and Jamaica. Most notably, he is renowned as ‘the Modern Day Hitch’ in his work as a Professional Matchmaker and Life Coach. He is the author of the best-selling book It’s Complicated: But It Doesn’t Have to Be on Gotham/Penguin Books and most recently, co-hosted OWN Network’s ‘Lovetown, USA’.
Paul is a leading blogger at Essence.com and a Georgetown MBA. His complete bio and highlights of his work visit can be found at Paulcbrunson.com or follow him on Twitter @PaulCBrunson.
The Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations (USA), Inc. (UJAA) will also be honored with the JAMPACT Founders Award.A significant portion of UJAA’s activities include supporting early childhood institutions through its network of alumni associations, including providing basic schools with water tanks through its Water Tank project. UJAA executes a wide range of activities including rebuilding and repairing schools, awarding scholarships to Jamaican American High School graduates, and most recently engaging in a successful education development initiative with Grace Kennedy Money Services/Western Union called I-PL.E.D.G.E.
JAMPACT expects this year’s C.H.I.C. Gala to be a highly engaging and entertaining evening of fundraising for the Maxfield Park’s Basic School.
