Dec. 12, 2007 – Jamaica Cultural Alliance (JCA) presents its 10th Annual Year End Event, a New Year’s Eve Ball on Monday, December 31, 7:00 pm to 1:00 am (January 1, 2008 at the Doubletree Torrance, 2133 Hawthorne Blvd., Torrance, CA
Legendary Jamaican musician Pluto Shervington and his band will be the featured entertainer for the event. Mr. Shervington is lovingly known solely as “Pluto”. His story telling quality burst on the scene in the very interesting and somewhat uncertain 70’s and created a style bridging many generations. He is the fitting performer for this year’s event theme, “Reflections.” He will be supported by the versatile DJ Gregory “G”.
JCA promotes global awareness, education and exchange of Caribbean/West Indian arts, cultural and history. Their 2006 “ A Grande Evening At The Theatre” has now become an annual event showcasing Jamaican playwrights. JCA has set up a partnership with the Blazer Learning Center to esstablish the JCA Caribbean West Indian Club which provides mentoring for children and youth of the culture. Proceeds from this event support these art and cultural programs.
Come join JCA in celebrating a successful year, welcome 2008, and most of all salute the Jamaican spirit. For more information and to purchase tickets call 323.692-0423 or visit wwww.jamaicaculture.org
