The swearing-in ceremony for Jamaica’s incoming Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Sunday, October 23 will be extensively covered by all major media houses and will also be available on the Internet.
The ceremony will see him taking the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office for Prime Minister after which he will receive the Instrument of Appointment by the Governor General.
He will then deliver his inaugural address as Prime Minister. Andrew Holness has been a member of Cabinet since he was appointed as the Minister of Education in September 2007.
The public is encouraged to follow the swearing-in activities which starts with a musical prelude at 3:30 p.m., on national radio stations RJR 94 FM; Power 106FM and Nationwide News Network FM; television stations CVM and TVJ and also on PBCJ cable TV. The event will also be streamed on the JIS website www.jis.gov.jm.
The 90-minute programme will deliver high quality performances of cultural items by the Jamaica Military Band, the University Singers and the JCDC youth gold medal awardee in speech, Miss Jahzan McLaughlin.
