Poem: Soulbirds Fly

You’re always changing, so do I:

Even when it seems,

I am at a standstill, “Soulbirds fly!”

Even in someone’s tragic demise,

You’re watching with your eyes:

Some keep silent, some will cry:

Maybe that’s our ego, maybe that’s our pride

One thing for me, is another thing for you

Yet, you teach and study all lives,

In your own disguised, with blood,

Sweat and tears,

“Soulbirds fly!”

As we encourage to be humble,

to be far more kind,

Equality, some march—fought,

“Save black lives!”

Equality bloom, some hearts cries,

“Save black lives!”

Sometimes I wonder, for whom?’

“Is that really true?”

“Is that really, wise?”

Still, our eyes is on the greatest prize,

“Soulbirds fly, Soulbirds fly,

Soulbirds fly—so high!”
