The Kendal Train Crash was the worst rail disaster in history at the time. The tragedy took place on the night of September 1, 1957, near Kendal, Manchester, and claimed the lives of more than 250 people. Fourteen of those lost, nearly 6 per cent of all those killed, were members of the author’s family.
Beverley East will present a copy of her book, Reaper of Souls: A Novel on the 1957 Kendal Crash, to the ODPEM.
