The 24-year-old known to fans as Swan Dann helped pioneer and popularize TriniBad, or zesser music — a youth movement blending dancehall, trap and island swagger that’s unique to Trinidad & Tobago — in recent years.

Street anthems like “Go Fi Dem,” “Brother Brother” and “Dreams” invigorated the dancehall scene in Trinidad and other Caribbean islands, heralding the arrival of a fresh, youthful and often controversial spin on the Jamaica-originated sound and culture. In 2021, PRINCE SWANNY released his debut album, Serenity, as his definitive hit “Catch 22” took the TriniBad sound worldwide.

Swanny’s growing profile overseas has led to collaborations with Jay Critch, Skillibeng and French dancehall star Kalash to name a few, and appearances on Sway in the Morning, Hot 97, BBC1Xtra and Hot Ones: Caribbean Edition. Drake, Burna Boy, Bobby Shmurda, Kodak Black, Sean Paul, Big Boogie, Trinidad James and Popcaan are among those he counts as supporters and fans.

Look out for more new music from PRINCE SWANNY this summer as the countdown to Swanology begins.
