The Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre will be the hub of activities for the 2014 Jamaica Festival Celebrations as it opens the Jamaica Festival Village daily from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on August 1 to 5. The Village promises an exciting and thrilling experience for Jamaicans.
The Jamaica Festival Village will feature daily and nightly events and activities for the entire family including concerts, exhibitions and expositions, a Kiddies Village, Rides and Attractions. Jamaica’s Festival is being celebrated under the theme, “This is Jamaica…My Jamaica” encouraging Jamaicans to wear the national colours with a ‘tups of white’.
The celebrations will kick off on August 1 with the Jamaica Festival Village being opened at 12 noon and Mello Go ’Roun’ providing the night’s entertainment at 8:00 p.m. This year’s new addition, Heart of Ska Festival which will be headlined by Eric Monty Morris and Delfeayo will be held on Saturday, August 2 at 12 noon while the exciting Dutchie Culinary Festival will tantalize the taste on Sunday, August 3 at 12:00 p.m.
The celebrations will continue with the energetic World Reggae Dance Championships on Monday, August 4 at 8:00 p.m. and the Auntie Roachie Film & Literary Festival on Tuesday, August 5 at 12 noon. The Independence celebrations will culminate on August 6 when the nation will celebrate 52 years of political Independence with a Grand Gala on at the National Stadium.
While the Jamaica Festival Village is free, the nightly entertainment cost adults $900 pre sold, $1000 at the gate and children $400 while public sector employees are able to purchase tickets at $800 with identification.
